The researchers revealed that the new coronavirus survives on most surfaces for about 72 hours. Specialists study was published by The New England Journal of Medicine.

The researchers compared how the pandemic virus SARS-CoV-2 and its predecessor SARS-CoV-1 spreads under different conditions. It was found out that both viruses affect almost in the same way. They sustain their viability on plastic and stainless steel better than on other subjects, such as copper or cardboard.

The pathogen is claimed to stay in the air for up to three hours. Taking into consideration this fact, experts concluded that the spread of coronavirus by droplets is possible.
